|Dispatch is Wrong on H.B 476|
The Columbus Dispatch came out against Ohio bill H.B. 476. The Bill was introduced to the Ohio House of Representatives Feb. 24. If passed, the bill would prohibit a state agency from contracting with a company that's boycotting or disinvesting from Israel.
Ohio Jewish Communities and the Federation support this bill which is consistent with federal law & policy combating the Arab boycott dating back to 1976. Eight other states, across the geographic & political spectrum, have passed substantially similar bills.
The Dispatch editorial did not indicate that even supporters of BDS, do not find these laws to infringe on their First Amendment rights to boycott.
